As a Cal Poly student, it is important you know the resources available to you during the time of Registration. The Mustang Success Center offers a variety of programs, workshops, and advising services that will help you with registration, all the while, preventing that feeling of quarterly devastation.

Kaylin Waizinger is a first year student at California Polytechnic State University of San Luis Obispo, where she is currently studying Journalism. As a Journalism major, she has decided to pursue the News/Broadcasting track and focus on the overall production and delivery of news. Waizinger was born on September 16, 1997 in the small beach town of San Clemente, California. As she grew up she discovered a major passion that has ultimately influenced her choice of major as well as her ideal choice of career. Growing up with a father who played competitive ice hockey, and a mother who competitively swam. Waizinger was thrust into the world of athletics. She developed a passion for sports and decided to pursue soccer. After being a part of the world of competitive sports, she has determined her goal of studying to be a sports broadcaster. Waizinger enjoys the element of performance. After, six years of theatrical experience, delivery, poise, and articulation have become a part of her being. As a senior in high school she earned the “Actress of the Year Award” for playing a leading role in her school’s production of Bye Bye Birdie. She enjoys public speaking and performance, and intends to learn more about the skills and expertise needed to become a sports broadcaster. As a high school student she earned the California Scholarship Federation award and was also deemed a valedictorian of the class of 2015. During fall quarter, Waizinger took a News Reporting and writing class taught by Katy Cengel, an experienced freelance journalist, in which she developed her skills in story reporting, writing, and editing. This winter quarter, Waizinger is enrolled in a journalism class that will introduce the multimedia side of journalism. By developing skills with multimedia, she hopes to broaden her understanding of journalism as a whole and learn how to use technology in order to become successful in the field of journalism.
